NetEnt Goes Back to the Basics with Fruit Spin

April 11, 2018

Slot games have been associated with fruit and bar symbols for decades now. After all, those symbols have been a staple of slots for as long as anyone can remember. Nowadays, developers do their best to innovate and come up with unique themes for their games in order to stand out from the crowd. Every now and again, however, some companies go back to the original formula and try to make it feel fresh again. That seems to be exactly what happened with NetEnt and one of their most recent offerings, Fruit Spin.

Fruit Spin comes with a powerful sense of nostalgia as it looks ripped straight from the good old days when the internet was young and everybody was playing slots in pubs and bars. You can still do that today, of course, but you’ll soon realize that those old games can’t hold a candle to Fruit Spin. While the game does have a very classic feel to it, Fruit Spin is anything but outdated. In fact, it definitely feels like it belongs in modern times.

NetEnt took the original formula and made it their own in a big way by reworking all the well-known symbols and adding a number of innovative features. You can immediately tell this is a NetEnt game thanks to the quality of the visuals and the smooth animations. Everything looks very crisp here and the attention to detail also extends to the sound effects and the background music.

In terms of gameplay, Fruit Spin unsurprisingly has a very traditional structure, with five reels, four rows, and 40 bet lines. Players can also expect a mix of old and new gameplay mechanics, including Scatters, Wilds, Stacked symbols, and Lucky Wheels. This last feature is the main selling point of Fruit Spin and awards both Free Spins and coin wins.
